The Pursuit of Health and Happiness in a Life of Food


Food is one of the most powerful forms of medicine on our planet, and when we start to make changes in our lives in alignment with our diets, magic happens. Each of the cells in our bodies has work to do and they need specific molecules to do that work. The basic raw materials that our cells require to do their job are mostly nutrients from our diet. Nutrition is simply foundational to how we function, to how cells function, to our physiology. Therefore as a whole, nutrition is one of the most powerful tool that can help you awaken, receive and increase life-force energy. And the reality is, if you are not taking care of your body, you will not be capable of becoming the version of yourself that you want to be.

Do you often feel sick, tired, fatigued, lacking focus, motivation and drive? Do you depend on caffeine and medications to keep you going during your days?

Well, I’m not surprised. We live in a toxic world… and it’s always been a toxic world, but recently things have changed. We are more overwhelmed by toxicity and underwhelmed by nutrition than ever before. Our food is being grown in unconventional ways, chemicals are leaking into our water supplies, and toxins seem to be everywhere, from house cleaning products to pesticides to the quality of our air.


On a day to day basis, toxins can show up as:

  • Headaches or migraines

  • Low energy

  • Bloating or gas

  • Caffeine addiction

  • IBS/Digestion discomfort

  • Mood swings/irritability

  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating

  • Weak immunity/getting sick a lot

  • Depression

And more sometimes in more life-threatening ways:

  • Heart disease

  • Autoimmune

  • Cancer 


So what do we do about this?

We need to DETOX.


A detox is different than a diet.

 With a diet, you remove fat fast while releasing toxins into the body. But often times with fad diets, we lack the proper nutrition to eliminate the toxins and your body no longer has anywhere to store the toxins that have been released. Your hunger hormones get switched on. The body then goes into emergency fat production to protect itself and dilute the toxins, leaving you with a rebound of fat gain.

 However, by detoxifying your body through this 10-day reset, the toxins are eliminated from the body, the fat no longer is required to store the toxins and therefore the fat stores are broken down much faster. Weight loss becomes easier and quicker, with no rebound.

But wait. Did you know there are nutritional requirements to make a detox safe? Our bodies inherent detoxification system is set up to be supported by produce. Nutrition is the antidote to toxicity and we need to be more diligent than ever about flooding our bodies with nutrients. The quality and amount of produce we consume determines how fast we can eliminate toxins from our bodies. Most toxins are fat soluble. And in order to rid them from our bodies, we need key nutrients from produce to transform them into water-soluble molecules which then can be flushed out.

This is why I am a huge advocate of safe and effective detox and why I encourage my friends, family, clients, and community to participate in the Shred 10 program.
